چکیده

The electronic structures of the metallic and insulating phases of the alloy series Ca2−xSrxRuO4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 2) are calculated using LDA, LDA+U and Dynamical Mean-Field Approximation methods. In the end members the groundstate respectively is an orbitally non-degenerate antiferromagnetic insulator (x = 0) and a good metal (x = 2). For x > 0.5 the observed Curie-Weiss paramagnetic metallic state which possesses a local moment with the unexpected spin S = 1/2, is explained by the coexistence of localized and itinerant Ru-4d-orbitals. For 0.2 < x < 0.5 we propose a state with partial orbital and spin ordering. An effective model for the localized orbital and spin degrees of freedom is discussed. The metal-insulator transition at x = 0.2 is attributed to a switch in the orbital occupation associated with a structural change of the crystal. PACS. 7 5.30.-m, 75.50.-y, 71.25.Tn

Mechanism of hopping transport in disordered mott insulators.

By using a combination of detailed experimental studies and simple theoretical arguments, we identify a novel mechanism characterizing the hopping transport in the Mott insulating phase of Ca2-xSrxRuO4 near the metal-insulator transition. The hopping exponent alpha shows a systematic evolution from a value of alpha=1/2 deeper in the insulator to the conventional Mott value alpha=1/3 closer to t...

Investigation of effect of magnetic ordering on structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu) using ab initio method

Structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu)  were studied  for each of three magnetic configurations nonmagnetic, ferromagnetic, and antiferromagnetic by using density functional theory in generalized gradient approximations (GGA) and strong correlation correction (GGA + U). Due to magnetic transition from antiferromagnetic to nonmagnetic phase, an electr...

Theory of the orbital-selective Mott transition in ferromagnetic YTiO3 under high pressure

We explore the effect of pressure on the electronic properties of the ferromagnetic Mott-Hubbard insulator YTiO3. We show that the pressure-induced insulator-metal transition is accompanied by anisotropic structural changes driven by the competition between strongly orbital dependent one-electron hopping and strong, multiorbital electronic correlations in the real crystal structure of YTiO3. Ou...

Orbital and spin correlations in Ca2−xSrxRuO4: A mean field study

The alloy Ca2−xSrxRuO4 exhibits a complex phase diagram with peculiar magnetic metallic phases. In this paper some aspects of this alloy are discussed based on a mean field theory for an effective Kugel-Khomskii model of localized orbital and spin degrees of freedom. This model results from an orbital selective Mott transition which in the three-band system localized two orbitals while leaving ...

خواص ساختاری، الکتریکی و مغناطیسی منگنایتLa1-xCaxMnO3

Manganites are considered as subbranches of condensed matter physics with a great wealth of physical mechanisms. In this investigation we have studied the structural, electrical and magnetic properties of a series of La1-xCaxMnO3   manganite with x=0.1, 0.2, …,0.5. We observed that the crystal structure of this manganite, with small dopping, at room temperature is orthorhombic and by increasi...
